The 4th time's the charm

Last night we went out for dinner. We had decided on getting rice. So we left the compound at about 7:30. We arrived at the restaurant to find that they didn't have Chicken, So we went to another restaurant but they didn't have rice. Sarah said okay "there is 1 more place we can go!". We got in the car and drove to the 3rd location. And then didn't have power! So we drove a bit more to find a place that had Rice, Chicken and POWER. So on our 4th time we got what we wanted. I was fun and I got to see more of Haiti and what the restaurants are like here.

Today we went to the kids home for church. It was sooooo cute, when we pulled up all the little girls had dresses and the boys were wearing little ties and slacks. It was adorable. They ran up and gave us all hugs. Today it was the story of Jonah.

At this point I still don't really understand the language. It is really pushing me to be outgoing. I am not at all that way. So I could use your prayers regarding this area. I am not the type to ask, and getting laughed at has always bugged me. I know God is teaching me to be willing and to be outgoing. I appreciate you all.

I am working on my curriculum for tomorrow school. MY 1ST DAY!?!?! I have 7 preschoolers. It is going to be a blast. Nervous though. :I

I really wish I could post a lot of photos but my internet connection is not very good.

:( Praying that I will be able to post more soon.

Mikerlin ♥

This little girl stole my heart right away. She is such a sweetie. She fell asleep with her spoon in her mouth and then turned to get up and fell back to sleep. She is adorable. ♥ ♥ ♥

Learning

Home for 40 days :)

Sarah and Yves

Sarah sings a lot (which I LOVE)
Yves is a crazy driver and is super funny (;

Alex
He is 19 and has lived here since January.

So I wanted to post some photos of the people I am staying with, the home and what I have been doing. Today I had a blessed opportunity to learn how to cook some Haitian food. Diri a poul fri avek sauce. In my eyes it was rice, chicken and some sauce. {it was SO good} Mom and dad they are teaching me how to cook Haitian so that I can cook for you when I get home. ;)

I also started to get my hair braided like a Haitian. Many little braids...Photos to come soon!

Everything here is different. The people, the food, the climate & everything. I also have my own room, which is super strange. I miss my family a TON! Since it is only day 2 it still feels awkward but exciting. I am working on memorizing all the kids names. Also the basic phrases to communicate better with.

Thanks everyone for your support and prayers Love you all. Keep your eyes open for more photos soon! God bless and have a wonderful weekend:)

So yesterday was my first full day "on my own". My team dropped me off Wednesday afternoon and they headed back to Cross to Light and flew home yesterday. I have already learned a lot. I have been forced to learn about this culture and this language. At the home I am staying at there is Me, Sarah, Yves, and Alex. Sarah is fluent in both Creole and English. Yves and Alex both speak creole. I had my first Creole class yesterday and I am now learning the alphabet. I got my 1st creole bible to learn to read. So I am going to try to learn as quick as possible.

The kids home that I am working with is about a 5 minuet  drive from here. There are 14 kids there. They all speak creole, so I need to learn the language soon to be able to communicate with them. They are all darling and have already started teaching me.

My life since I left home has been so busy (not to mention we finished moving the days before I left). Since I left home I have done a ton and saw many things. I wish I could tell you every story and experience. We got to work with a lot of people and do a lot of ministry work. We went to orphanages, a hospital, tent cities, a few churches, and just random work around the compound we were staying at. I got to see Emmanuel, my god son. It was so special. He just turned 1! He is such a cutie :)
I am helping cook breakfast, So I gotta go but I will post more later :)
